After a long gap of more than three months, a number of Team India cricketers have slowly started getting back to outdoor training.
While Cheteshwar Pujara returned to training in Rajkot, fast bowler Ishant Sharma started outdoor training with light exercises.
The cricket calendar has gone haywire due to the lockdown imposed worldwide by the coronavirus, which also forced most Indian players to be locked up in their residences.
Sharma took to Instagram to share videos and images of him doing some basic drills, and captioned the post, “Engaging myself with positivity and practicing while maintaining social distancing.”
Pujara, on the other hand, told PTI, “You have to start at some point and it is important. If you are going to the ground, you are getting used to the sun and outdoor environment. Most players have been indoors for such a long time.”
Both Ishant and Pujara are not in the fray of things as far as limited overs cricket for the national team is concerned, and their first international series might be the Test series between India and Australia Down Under later this year.
Ishant, however, will turn out for Delhi Capitals if the Indian Premier League, that has been indefinitely postponed, is held before the tour. Pujara has not been picked up by any franchise.
