Umpires have been changed for the fourth and fifth Ashes Test Matches. It is coming as Marais Erasmus and Ruchira Palliyaguruge have been added as umpires for the last two test matches. They will be officiating with Kumar Dharamsena in the Ashes Series 2019.
Originally, Dharamsena was a TV Umpire for the last two test matches but now he will be doing his role as an on-field Umpire with Marais Erasmus in last two matches of Ashes Series. Ruchira Palliyaguruge will be the TV umpire for the remaining matches.
The fourth match and decider of series are going to start from 4th September at the Old Trafford and the last match of series is going to be played at Oval on 12th September.
In the first three games of series, many of the decisions given by the on-field umpires were criticized and quality of umpiring was questioned. And this led to the change in the umpiring panel for the remaining matches of Ashes series.
Chris Gaffaney and Joel Wilson were the on-field umpires for the third match of Ashes and it was a harsh decision by Joel Wilson of not giving out to Ben Stokes which turned the game drastically in favour of the hosts. Had it been other way then England would have lost that game as Hawk-Eye suggested that the ball bowled by Nathan Lyon would have hit the stumps and there were three reds.
The Ashes is nicely poised at the moment and both the teams have won one game apiece. It will be interesting to see whether the change in umpires would make a difference in the remaining two matches or not.
