Finally, the tone has been set for the FIBA World Cup 2019 everyone is raring to go and challenge every country for that one prize one motive. Yes, the day is nearing we all have been waiting for, with the Opening ceremony is done and dusted it’s time for action when FIBA World Cup goes underway on Saturday.
Canada was left behind for deciding their squad for the FIBA World Cup 2019 but now with news out, they have made a call on their first-choice players who will be featuring in the FIBA World Cup 2019 in China.
The selection was tough for the selectors this season and it was a very long and hectic process of selecting their squad for FIBA World Cup 2019.
The players who were not considered for the mega event were :
- Andrew Wiggins
- RJ Barrett
- Jamal Murray
- Tristan Thompson
- Dwight Powell
- Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
- Nickeil Alexander-Walker.
Only two players who play NBA have been selected in the World Cup squad by Canada namely, Cory Joseph who plays for Sacramento and Khem Birch plays for Orlando in NBA.
After 2010 exit this will be the very first trip to FIBA World Cup for Canada and just their 14th appearance overall in the World Cups. It will be interesting to see how the Canadians respond this time against stronger oppositions. They have to play their skins out if Canadians want to show their calibre to World that what are they capable of. Otherwise, it will be an another failure for them in World Cups and another demoralising exit.

Canada’s first game of FIBA World Cup 2019 will be up against the Mighty Australians on Sunday.
