Finally, the most awaited decisions are out for the Indian Specialist position coaches for the next term. News is coming out that Vikram Rathour the former opener has been selected as Indian Batting coach and is all set to replace Sanjay Bangar.
A committee led by MSK Prasad took the decision of selecting the batting coach as Vikram Rathour and bowling and fielding coaches remain the same. As Bharath Arun and R Sridhar retain there place in the Indian Cricket team as coaches.
Sunil Subramaniam was another member who lost his position to Girish Dogre as he misbehaved with the government officials during the tour of West Indies. So, Girish Dogre is the new administrative manager of the Indian Cricket team.
Who is Vikram Rathour?
Vikram Rathour is former Indian opener who played 6 Test matches and 7 One Day international in 1996. He couldn’t succeed at the International level but he was an important player for Punjab cricket team.
Earlier, he also applied for the NCA batting coach and U-19 batting coach’s position but his application was put on hold by the officials as his brother in law was the head of the committee.
Nitin Patel and Luke Woodhouse have been appointed as the strength and conditioning coach. Nitin was in the support staff with Mumbai Indians in 2011.
Rahul Johri feels that the newly selected support staff could bring freshness into the squad and also explained the media that Indian team had other views on the selected support staff but the committee felt it was the time to change the members and bring the freshness in the team.
He is also hopeful of Vikram Rathour that he comes up with a plan and Indian middle-order woes get solved till the T-20 World Cup. He also told the media that the committee feels that Vikram had enough experience for the position and has enough skillsets for a batting coach.
