Football’s great Lionel Messi has donated 1 Million Euros to Barcelona hospital to fight against coronavirus pandemic. Notable stars who also donated for the cause of coronavirus are Cristiano Ronaldo and agent, Jorge Mendes. Both of them donated 1 Million Euros for the noble cause of coronavirus.
Lionel Messi donated the above amount to a public hospital in Barcelona and it was confirmed by a tweet coming from the clinic on their official twitter handle. According to the report by goal.com published earlier.
Pep Guardiola former Barcelona’s manager Pep Guardiola is another notable who gave 1 Million Euros for the pandemic. Donation by him was donated to a Barcelona based campaign whose duty of producing medical supplies and equipment being used in the treatment of patients suffering from coronavirus.
Lionel Messi’s rival Cristiano Ronaldo was also on the same page this time around. He also donated 1 million euros to the hospitals in Lisbon and Porto taking care of COVID-19 patients in Italy. Agent Jorge Medes also donated 1 million euros for the cause.
FIFA took the initiative along with the World Health Organisation (WHO) to spread awareness about coronavirus. For the campaign FIFA chose 28 footballers including past and present who will take part in the campaign for spreading awareness among the people. Lionel Messi was also picked in the list
WHO’s director was pleased with the effort of FIFA involving in the spread of the message against COVID-19. FIFA and WHO stacked up with each other to eradicate the coronavirus from the world.
It is a video campaign in which 28 footballers are involved which will be recorded in 13 different languages. The notable players involved are Indian Captain Sunil Chhetri, German Philip, Iker Casillas and Carles Puyol.
