Indian Football Team is in the second round of Football World Cup Qualifiers for the World Cup going to start in 2022. In the midfield, many experts believe Sahal Abdul, Anirudh Thapa and Amarjit Singh will be the key for the Indian football team in the Qualifiers. These three were in great nick during the 2019 Intercontinental Cup in Ahemdabad.
Stimac – the Croatian who is the coach of Indian Football team has a tough task in hand this time around, as India has been drawn into Group E where opening matches will be tough for them. Their first two matches are against Oman and Qatar – the Asian champions.
The new coach Stimac has brought many changes into the Indian side and some new faces can be seen in the football team. There have been many trials of new faces in the midfield but Sahad Abdul Samad, Anirudh Thapa and Amarjit Singh are the three who have impressed the most with their gameplay.
These three were brilliant in the Intercontinental Cup against Tajikistan where they helped Indian side to emerge as winning team from behind and won the game by a margin of 4-2. They showed the skill of moving the ball very quickly and they can press forward at a very rapid pace.
Again against Korea, they showed the glimpses of what they are capable of doing at any stage of the game. While playing against Korea Indians were 3-0 down during the first half but as soon as in second half Thapa and Samad were called in as substitutes they showed their skillsets and Indians gone on to score 2 goals but eventually, they lost to Korea by 2-5. But it was those three midfielders who stole the show.
Samad is technically efficient in his game and he was also awarded as the emerging player of the year. It remains to be seen whether three of them come to the fore for the game against Qatar and Oman, to register win against them in World Cup Qualifiers.
