On Friday at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata Mohun Bagan Club emerged victorious against Mohammaden Sporting Club just by a single goal in the match which was affected by rain.

That single goal came in 58th minute of the game which was also scored of a penalty earned by Hitesh Sharma very calmly. He got the chance in 2nd minute also but he was not able to convert at that point of time. After that rain-interrupted the game and we were into a half-hour break. The momentum was set by Hitesh Sharma in the second minute itself.

ATK’s goalkeeper Avilash Paul was good to grab his chances there and then as at 5th minute Mohammaden got chance to score an equalizer but they were not able to convert their only golden chance of the match due to the brilliant save by Avinash Paul.

The sporting club again got the chance to score the goal two times in the second half of the game but they were again stopped by Avinash Paul during the 47th minute. It was due to Avinash Paul due to whom ATK won the match and sealed out the semi-final spot.

Now the equation has been eased out as ATK reached into sem-final with this win and Sporting club is out of the tournament, they finished last in the points table with only four points in Group phase.

Earlier in the day, there was a match going on between Chennaiyin FC and TRAU FC who are new in the business. Chennaiyin FC was 1-0 up in the game but rain gods had other plans for them. The match was called off after 15th minute because of the lightning and thunderbolts which were experienced in Howrah.

With the match being called for the day, now this match will resume from 10 a.m on Monday.
